Twice a year we schedule social events, the June and December meetings are given over largely to social activities. These are the perfect opportunities to support the club and make new friends by preparing food, decorating the church hall, serving food and drinks and of course helping in the clean-up after the festivities.
CHRISTMAS SOCIAL
The last meeting of the year starts with a glass of either white or red wine, accompanied by a wonderful spread of hors d’oeuvres supplied by our talented members. Again, cookies and Christmas squares have been baked, the hall and tables have been decorated and the scene set. The evenings’ speaker is followed by tea, coffee and a delicious selection of refreshments. This event is one of the high spots of the year, pulling together so many of our talented and generous volunteers.
STRAWBERRY SOCIAL
The June meeting starts with a glass of champagne, members mingle and chat. Lots of work has already gone into the evening however, tables have been decorated, lemon loaves baked, strawberries hulled and sliced and the two combined into mouth watering confection with only the whipped cream to be added. After the champagne comes the speaker, then finally the strawberry shortcake accompanied by tea or coffee.
BRADNER DAFFODIL FESTIVAL (in April)
2006 was the first year that a number of members organised themselves into carpools and set off up the Fraser Valley. 400 varieties of daffodils were enough of an inducement but we found growers selling a wide range of potted bulbs, grasses, perennials, demonstrations, lunches much more. This is an event to be added to our calendar.
