We have just heard from the church as follows:

“WVPC’s COVID-19 Update:
As much as it pains us to cancel any meetings that serve to deepen faith and relationships, as per government recommendations we have suspended all gatherings at our Church building for the foreseeable future.”

Decision Taken at Executive Meeting of the West Vancouver Garden Club
Held on July 7th, 2020

The next Annual General Meeting was scheduled to be held on Wednesday 2nd September, 2020. However, the consensus of the Executive is that the AGM should be rescheduled due to the Covid-19 situation.  Therefore, the following motion was unanimously passed:

To accommodate year-end information related to Covid-19, it has been decided to postpone our AGM to the first Wednesday of October, being October 7, 2020.
We are governed by the Societies Act of B.C. of which we are currently in good standing.  This requires us to abide by our Constitution and By-laws and the regulations of the Societies Act.

Therefore, an AGM had tentatively been rescheduled for October 7th, 2020.

We have since received notification from the Registrar of Companies to extend the date by which a society must hold its Annual General Meeting to such date as the Registrar may authorize which falls not later than November 1 of the calendar year immediately following the calendar year in which an Annual General Meeting of the society would otherwise be required to be held under section 71(1) of the Societies Act.

As a result of this notification the Executive agreed unanimously that the Annual General Meeting be postponed until such time as the present restrictions are resolved.

The following decisions have been made by the Executive:

Vice President – Dirk Meyer has volunteered to fill the position of Vice-President. The Executive voted unanimously to elect Dirk – please join us in welcoming him to our Executive.

Membership Sue Menning - It is with regret that we announce that Sue has decided to retire from the membership position. She has been looking after membership for more years than we can remember and has done a wonderful job. For this she has our heartfelt thanks. We welcome Aileen Taylor who has graciously decided to take over Sue’s role. Aileen is a long time member of the garden club and has assisted over the years with our biennial plant sale and more recently our plant sale at Gleneagles.

Membership fees for 2020-21. In light of the Covid-19 situation and our inability to hold meetings this year, the Executive has decided to waive membership fees for this period. New membership cards will be mailed to existing members upon request to Aileen Taylor at aileen.i.taylor@gmail.com.

Please note that West Van Florist no longer gives the 10% discount to West Van Garden Club members.
