New Perspectives on all Things Horticultural

John Rawsthorne - Long time Club Members John and Margot emigrated from England in 1959 just weeks after their marriage. Not sure if they would be able to find work they had a fall-back plan to return to UK, but were both working within two weeks. After two years in an apartment, they settled into their first and only home on Marine Drive in West Vancouver 46 years ago. When they moved in, the front half of the property was a mature garden which over the years has been re-landscaped. The back half was a wilderness for many years, over-run with blackberries, but a marvelous playground for their two sons. In recent years the wilderness has been transformed into a more accessible garden where their grandchildren now play. It is still a work in progress. John will take us on a pictorial tour of the garden highlighting many of the plants.

Roy Jonsson - Roy is an experienced horticulture instructor, and writes a regular column “Sow It Grows_? for the North Shore News. He has also contributed articles to Gardens West, Garden Wise and Canadian Gardens Centers and Nurseries. He teaches horticulture at Van Dusen Botanical Garden and also with North Vancouver Continuing Education. Roy has also taught the Master Gardener’s Program for many years.

Marie Bruce - Marie Bruce has been a member with the West Vancouver Garden Club for about six years. She is a Master Gardener with Van Dusen and belongs to a couple of other garden club. She will show slides (say that three times) of the Winter Garden in Victoria to give us some ideas of what to do with our own gardens in winter.
