Bill and Carla Bischoff migrated to "Sunny Surrey" from Hamilton Ontario some 27 years ago. They share a joint passion in flowers and gardening, their long time hobby. Carla specializes in tropical 0rchids, to be found "in just about every room in the house as well as in greenhouses!" Bill cultivates many hardy outdoor Orchids and 22 species of Cyclamen, growing in selected niches, available in many flower and leaf variations, and "Yes, even in mid-Winter, before the snowdrops". Of the 200 Rhododendrons, blooms produce colourful trusses from early March to late July, and plants in pots, especially succulents, are everywhere (there is no lawn!). A rock garden and a water feature enhance a tranquility that visitors can enjoy. Both Carla and Bill are members of several Societies, and are the well-deserved winners of several outstanding awards, including a featured article in Gardens West in 1998. Bill will talk about "Plants in Tufa", a relatively new interest in his own rockery.
