The December meeting was held on a cold and snowy night which was a shame as a number of people were unable to attend and sample the wonderful array of goodies provided by members. The beautifully decorated table was loaded with delicious treats both savory and sweet. Jim Hemphill manned the bar and members were able to enjoy a glass of wine or cranberry juice. Louis Peterson welcomed members who were able to wish President Mary Hamm a “Merry Christmas” by cell phone as she was at home recovering from a cataract operation. Member Kathy Moradian introduced our guest Lauren Ollsin who led members in singing some Christmas favorites accompanied on the piano by Lauren. Members really enjoyed her enthusiasm and joined in the singing with gusto. Wendy Kottmeier sold raffle tickets for two beautiful Christmas arrangements with proceeds being given to the Quest Food exchange. Gifts of food were also brought to be given to the same cause.

Plant Sale On the day I am writing this the ground is covered with snow but spring will arrive and some perennials may need dividing. It seems that plants with eye appeal really sell well – anything in flower is always a winner as is something with attractive leaves such as Hosta, Brunnera, or Ligularia. Iris does well too but everybody wants something different so pot up a few things as they become available and then they will be well established by the beginning of May! We hope to have a terrific sale.
