December 2023 – Christmas Party

On a clear, cold night, a large number of members gathered for the annual Christmas party. The hardworking events team had assembled a beautiful array of Christmas savouries and cookies for everyone to enjoy, along with liquid refreshments served by Jim in his red Christmas waistcoat.

Members enjoyed talking to each other and meeting new people which is not always possible at regular meetings. Dirk manned a table where he demonstrated methods of sharpening tools and also fixed and cleaned items brought to the meeting by members. When Spring comes, we’ll all be ready!

Raffle tickets were sold with the prizes being a lovely lap quilt made by Cathy as well as a gift basket containing food treats  largely donated by members of the executive. The gift basket included olive oil from Val’s house in Kalamata, Greece, delicious honey from Aileen’s garden bees, Georgie’s marmalade, homemade cookies made by Cathy and Angela, and wine donated by Wendie.

Members also brought food items to be given to a local charity, The Harvest Project.

Cathy presented Angela with a beautiful quilt that she had made in recognition of all the hard work Angela had performed over many years.

The evening concluded with members singing carols and Christmas songs ably led by Jane on her accordion. She had also provided members with song sheets so we could sing along. At the end of the meeting the table decorations made by the executive were given as door prizes.

Thank you to Lois for the write up and photos!
