ANNUAL PLANT SALE
Saturday May 3rd – 10:00am to 2:00 pm
Gleneagles Spring Festival
6262 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7W 2S5
Many of our members will be potting up volunteer seedlings, cuttings and dividing perennials in the spring for the sale. Our plant sale is well known for interesting plants and draws a gardening crowd to the festival.
This is our major fundraiser and provides funds to engage our speakers during the year.
Now that spring has sprung and we are seeing growth in our gardens is the time to be dividing perennials, taking cuttings and potting up random seedlings which have appeared in various spots.
Suggestions for digging and potting your plants to donate to the plant sale:
- Put crumpled newspaper in the bottom of pots to keep soil from washing out and adding moisture and some bulk.
- Shorter pots are better than tall since they don’t use as much soil.
- Start potting early so plants are established and strong and look good for sale (plants get stressed when potted and take a week or so to recover and perk up). Be sure to water your transplants and keep them out of full sun.
- Larger plants/divisions are preferred to smaller divisions.
- If you can, include a label with: Name of plant, sun/shade, bloom color (if appropriate), any other info you feel is useful.
- Wipe outside of pots. A well-presented plant will make more money for our Garden Club!
- We will also have a ‘Green Elephant’ table for unwanted planters, vases, pots, gardening books, tools, etc. – a great opportunity to clean out the garden shed!
- Details re drop off points for plants, where and what time to come on the day, where to park, etc. will be provided by email closer to the sale day.
